Lt. Richard Cantu said he and Detective Roland Rodriguez will teach the class between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14 and 15.
The course is free and all women over the age of 18 may sign up for the training.
Any woman under the age of 18 needs her parents’ permission to take the class.
“We’ve been doing this for at least 10 years,” Cantu said. The training is popular with local women. Cantu said those attending the course will learn to use simple items to defend themselves.
