US 281 (Nueces Street) in George West will be reconstructed from Milam Street to Fannin Street.  The work will consist of removing the existing worn pavement and replacing it with a new pavement surface.  The $329,000 contract with Hunter Industries of San Marcos, is expected to take no more than two weeks to complete.  The remaining portion of US 281 from Fannin Street south to Lamar Street will be reconstructed as part of the ongoing contract with Ballenger Construction of Harligen.
