The visiting G-P girls captured three straight sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-23) in the best of five match.
Each set was close and the 2A Lady Cats hung right with the big 4A team from Gregory-Portland. It was never easy for the visitors. The Lady Cats just could not get the final run late in the sets to push across the 25-point threshold for a win.
Brittany Garza recorded one ace in the match for the Lady Cats and also contributed four digs on defense along with 10 assists. D’Anne Wilder led the S-T girls with seven kills while Celina Acosta hit for five kills. Aaliyah East had four digs along the back line for Skidmore.
The loss gives the Lady Cats a 7-5 record on the year.
The freshman match also went to the visitors in two straight, 25-17 and 25-8. In the junior varsity match, the Lady Wildcats took two sets at 25-12 and then closed out the best of three match with ease, 25-4.
The Skidmore-Tynan ladies will have their varsity team in Aransas Pass this weekend for the Lady Panthers’ tournament.
