Isabella Mascorro of Refugio was first runner-up in the Little Miss pageant.
Each contestant had to draw a Mexican state at random. During the six weeks before the pageant, each contestant had to learn a ballet folklorico routine from the chosen state, as well as facts, including everything from geography to history to what the state produces.
The Miss winner and runners-up received scholarships. Junior Miss winners were awarded savings bonds. All pageant winners received crowns and sashes.
The queens and court winners and runners-up performed at the Diez y Sies Fiesta the following week.
