Carol Maurer and Joyce Stewart of George West represented the 229 member George West Branch of Catholic Life Insurance as delegates to the convention.
During the two-day meeting, delegates heard reports given by the Chairman of the Board, the President, the Treasurer and the Audit Committee Chairman reflecting the impressive growth of the organization since the last convention and reaffirming Catholic Life’s financial strength. Additionally, the convention served as a kickoff to the organization’s 110th anniversary celebration.
“For more nearly 110 years, individuals, families, and businesses have looked to Catholic Life Insurance to secure their family’s future,” said J. Michael Belz, president and chief executive officer. “We continue to meet their needs through solid life insurance, safe retirement products, superior service, and value-added living and fraternal benefits that enrich lives and strengthen communities.”
In other action, delegates elected four individuals to serve on the eight-member Board of Directors; Sixtus Laskowski of Stockdale; James Persyn of San Antonio; Lawrence Shimek of Nada; and Doris Short of Arlington. Each was elected to a four-year term. They will join Mike Decker of San Angelo; Gladys Haecker of Schertz; Tom Sladecek of Jarrell; and Tom Berger of Magnolia on the Board.
Following the convention, the Board of Directors met and elected Tom Sladecek as Chairman, Gladys Haeker as Vice Chairman, and Michael Decker as Secretary.
