Presenting the award was Commissioner Ray Meadows, State President of the Association. “We are grateful for the leadership of Rep. Gonzalez Toureilles, especially on important issues for rural Texas and our taxpayers,” Meadows stated. The organization, composed of all 254 County Commissioners Courts, cited work by Rep. Gonzalez Toureilles for protection of groundwater and economic development as examples of outstanding legislative accomplishments.
The Legislator of the Year award recognizes an outstanding member of the Texas legislature, who has particularly excelled in areas of preserving local control and promoting strong representative government. “Rep. Gonzalez Toureilles has demonstrated her commitment to protecting our taxpayers from unfunded mandates and fostering economic opportunity for our rural citizens,” concluded Meadows.
