The Moreno Middle School eighth-grade football had a hard time scoring in Kingsville on Tuesday night.

The B team got the lone Beeville TD of the night in its clash with the big bulls. It was a third quarter run by Brandon Joyce on a sweep down the sideline that went all the way. Jacob Aguirre made good on the two-point conversion run.

“The eighth-grade B team had another good game. The defense stepped up after giving away a long touchdown in the first quarter, shutting out Kingsville the rest of the way,” said MMS coach Bryan Grams.

The final was a Moreno 8-6 victory over the Brahmas.

The A squad gave up a touchdown on the opening kick and then settled down on defense the rest of the first half. Kingsville did get one more first half score and then came out in the second half and went to the air for two more touchdowns. The final went to the Kingsville boys, 24-0.

Players of the week for the MMS boys were: on offense Brandon Joyce and on defense Joshua Hugee.
