His campaign statement follows:
“Abel Suniga was born and raised in Beeville and has lived here all of his life. He has been a local contractor in this community for the last 20 years. He has been involved in this community as a peace officer since 1992 where he served as captain of the Beeville Police Department Reserve Unit. He has participated in the SWAT unit and in numerous raids resulting with putting criminals behind bars.
“In 2000, he became constable for Bee County, Precinct 2, where he led deputies under his supervision. In 2004, he became constable for Bee County, Precinct 3, and has served there ever since. He still continues to supervise the deputies in his department. He has more deputies than any other constable department in Bee County.
“Because of his personal involvement as a constable, assisting our justice of the peace judges, Mr. Suniga is also aware of the truancy problem this community faces and will do what he can to help in this problem.
“Mr. Suniga was named Constable of the Year for the past two years by Coastal Bend College Law Enforcement Division. He is extremely knowledgeable of the laws and attended the current update at Sam Houston State University in November 2009, when he successfully completed courses in liability evictions, writs, citations, arrest procedures and management skills.
“Mr. Suniga believes he is qualified to be your next justice of the peace for Precinct 3, because he comes with 18 years of experience in law enforcement and has the strong foundation to be non-partial and to be a fair judge. He is asking you to come and vote either in early voting, starting Oct. 18, or on Election Day on Nov. 2.
“Your support and vote would be greatly appreciated."
