“Wild about wildflowers” was the theme if the Beeville Garden Club’s program as members hosted the annual District VII zone meeting on Monday, Nov. 1, at the First United Methodist Church.

Teresa Holland, president of the Beeville Garden Club, introduced Vanda Babich, the current District VII director, and her officers. After the business meeting, a luncheon of hearty vegetable soup, salad and peach cobbler was served. Door prizes of gift baskets, toiletries and decorated candles were awarded. Then the bake sale, country store and plant sale opened for all to shop at their leisure. An estate-size fern was offered for raffle before the afternoon session commenced.

John Irwin, a volunteer at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, where he has served as a docent for 13 years, did a Power Point presentation with Q&A, updating the group on the latest additions at the center and issuing a personal invitation for the club members to revisit the center, which is close to Austin.
