A Caribbean Mass to be presented Dec. 7

On Tuesday, Dec. 7, the Del Mar College Choirs will present “St. Francis in the Americas: A Caribbean Mass” at 7:30 p.m. in Richardson Performance Hall on the Del Mar College East Campus.

“The Caribbean Mass” by Glenn McClure incorporates the Latin mass with added text in Spanish and Italian by St. Francis of Assisi and is set to music styles of the culture of the Caribbean Islands. The program includes 13 songs with accompaniment by a variety of percussion and steel drum instruments representing varied cultures existing among the islands.

Solo performances will be given by several chorus members and also Del Mar voice professors Cynthia Longoria and Raphael Rada.
