Eudencio Cantu “Joe” Naranjo, 81, formerly of Skidmore, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010.

Mr. Naranjo was born Feb. 12, 1929, in Skidmore to Guillermo and Lorenza (Cantu) Naranjo. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1945 to 1953 and was in the Korean Conflict from 1946 to 1953. He was also in the U.S. Air Force Reserves until 1990. He moved to Plattsmouth, Neb., in 1952, and worked as an operating engineer for Allied Chemical/Arcadian & PCS Nitrogen of Canada for 37 1/2 years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Plattsmouth, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mattie King (Carroll) Naranjo; two stepsons, Billy Joe Naranjo and Frank Harrison Naranjo; three brothers, Ignacio (Inez) Naranjo, Martin Naranjo and Aucencio (Jimmie) Naranjo; two sisters, Maria Contreras and Eugenia Naranjo; and his companion, Jeanne Shafer of Plattsmouth, Neb.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Shirley (Donnell) Drum of Flagstaff, Ariz.; three step-grandchildren, Billy, Victoria and Roxanne Drum, all of Flagstaff; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Roby Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsmouth, Neb.

The funeral service was held there Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Michael Lincoln officiating. Burial followed in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin, Mo. Musical selections included “In the Garden” and “How Great Thou Art.”

Pallbearers were Jim Shafer and Brian Wagner.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Plattsmouth, Neb., or the Plattsmouth Rescue Squad.

Arrangements were under the direction of Roby Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsmouth, Neb.
