Mr. Garcia was born on May 7, 1933, in Pettus, to Juan and Gregoria (Ochoa) Garcia. He was a truck driver and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
He was preceded indeath by his parents, Juan and Gregoria Garcia; his wife, Ofilia Alaniz Garcia; a brother, Marcelino Garcia; and two sisters, Maria Hinojosa and Josefa Garcia.
Survivors include his children, Guadalupe (Molly Treviño) Garcia Jr. of Goliad, Juan (Cecilia Garza) Garcia of Tynan, Delia (Jose Angel) Menchaca of Tynan, Georgie (Albert) Menchaca of Moore, Okla., Elia (Pedro) Barrientes of Tynan, Ofelia Garcia of Premont and Emilia Garcia (David Herrera) of Tynan; 28 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there Wednesday evening at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Tynan with Father Sebastian V. Thomas officiating. Burial follow in the Waldheim Cemetery in Tynan.
Pallbearers were Jose Angel Menchaca Jr., Albert Menchaca Jr., David L. Barrientes, Gilbert Rosales III, Robert C. Garcia and Jakob M. Martinez.
