Vicenta G. Vega, 101, of Beeville died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, in San Diego.

Mrs. Vega was born on Dec. 2, 1909, in Beeville to Estanislado and Estefana Salazar Garza. She was a member of the Guadalupanas at St. James Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Charismatic Prayer Group in Alice. She worked for the BISD cafeteria and enjoyed sewing and making flour tortillas at Ojeda’s in Beeville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Castulo Vega.

Survivors include four daughters, Lupe (Canuto) Paiz and Janie Ayala, both of Beeville, Rosemary (Joseph) Gunshore of South Carolina and Terri Donch of Alice; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Treviño Funeral Home Chapel.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 o’clock Friday morning at Our Lady of Victory Church with Father Luke officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.

Pallbearers were Randy Ramos, Riley Vega, Mosies Picassco, Miguel Cano, Rey Langley and Roman Munoz.

Mrs. Vega was a hard working woman, mother, and wife. She always had greetings for eveyone. She was loved by her daughters. My condolences to Janie, Teresa and Lupe, and Rosa and all her relatives. She is in heaven rejoicing with the Lord.
