Mrs. Wharton was born May 7, 1919, in Dewees to Annie (Kopecky) and Josef Repka. She married Howell Wharton and was a retired waitress of The Townhouse Restaurant. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howell Wharton; three sisters, Verna Repka Hardin, Josephine Repka Womac and Emily Repka; four brothers, Joseph Repka Jr., Stanley Repka, Louis Repka and Ervin Repka.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy (Charles) Snider of George West; three sons, Tommy (Jeanette) West of Victoria, Gary (Kristi) West of Pleasanton and Joe (Eula) West of Alvin; a sister, Edna James of George West; a brother, Robert Repka Sr. of Kaufman; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at St. George Catholic Church. A rosary followed the visitation at 7 o’clock. The family gathered at the home of Cindy Snider after the rosary for visitation.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. George Catholic Church, with Rev. Eddie Garcia officiating. Organist Barbara Bednorz provided musical selections. Burial followed in the St. George Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tommy West, Gary West, Stanley Repka, Jeffrey Womac, Warren Rutherford and Ervin Repka Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Snider, Thomas Snider, Richard West, Jamie Armstrong, Donald McCumber, Bradley Strause and Buster Skucera.
