Lolene Inez “Doll” Bethel, 87, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011.

Mrs. Bethel was born Sept. 29, 1923, near Nixon to William W. and Inez (Wood) Webb. She married Carroll B. Bethel of Hext on Nov. 9, 1942, in Boston, Mass. After the death of her husband, she began a career as caregiver for the elderly in Abilene. She continued this passion for the rest of her life by assisting in the care of her fellow residents at Georgia Manor.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; seven brothers, Jim, Charlie, Walter, Fred, Irvin, William, Otis; and two sisters, Mae O’Rear and Mamie Zuber.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolene (Tommy) Fair of Amarillo, Marie (John) Vargas of Green River, Wyo., and Charm (Ricki) Trotter of Glen Rose; five grandchildren, Jennifer Bowen of Amarillo, Christene Fair of Somerville, Mass., Thomas Carroll Fair of Amarillo, Brittany Shipman of Glen Rose and Seth Trotter of Glen Rose; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to BSA Hospice, St. Jude’s Research Center or Cook Children’s Medical Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Menard, Tx.
