Mrs. Gonzales was born on July 14, 1929, in Weslaco to Serapio Cardenas and Maria Ramirez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francisco “Popo” Gonzales; one son, J.C. Gonzales; two brothers, Refugio and Chano Cardenas; and two sisters, Eustolia Soto and Eloisa De Leon; and one grandson Benino Gonzales.
Survivors include five sons; Frank Gonzales of Beeville, Dan Gonzales of Ocala, Fla., Johnny Gonzales of Granbury, Bobby Gonzales of Goliad and Rene Gonzales of Granbury; two daughters, Yolanda Campbell and Jo Ann Gonzales, both of Granbury; two brothers, Jose and John Cardenas, both of Sunnyside, Wash.; one sister, Paulina Zepeda of Weslaco; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goliad. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated there Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial followed at La Bahia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Francisco Gonzales Jr., Rene Gonzales, Francisco Gonzales III, J.C. Gonzales Jr., Sergio Gonzales and Jarred Gonzales.
