Mr. Lyckman was born one of four children in Cadillac, near Pawnee, to Aldrick and Mabel Lyckman. He graduated from Pawnee High School and received a scholarship to Texas A&I University. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and afterward worked in the oil field for the next 39 years, becoming an oil rig supervisor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janie Ann Barrington, in 1983; and two sisters, Hazel McCullough and Katherine Baker.
Survivors include a son, Alden W. Lyckman Jr. of McAllen; a daughter, Brenda Sharyl Lyckman of San Antonio; a sister, Grace LeMier; and an aunt, Ruby Johnson.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 20, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. The funeral service was conducted there at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, with Pastor Trevor Carpenter officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg, with military honors conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
Pallbearers were Steve Baker, Brian Baker, Edward Monson, David LeMier, Bruce Reynolds and Harlan Specht.
Honorary pallbearers were Tommy MCullough, James E. Barrington Jr., Temple Baker, Treeman Baker and Cole Baker.
Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
