Upon wakening on the morning of Feb. 12, Mrs. Lee Ramirez Sr. of Beeville was delighted to hear the singing voices of several of her daughters as they entered her bedroom singing Las Mananitas. She smiled and playfully replied, “I wish I had a camera to take a picture of you all in your pajamas!”

The much anticipated day had finally arrived, and she looked forward to the celebration that lay ahead.

Mrs. Ramirez was honored with a luncheon on her 89th birthday at Leota’s at the Berclair Mansion, hosted by her daughter, Dr. Yolanda R. Franzen of Houston, and attended by daughters Linda Ann Keyworth of San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Hilda Hansson of The Woodlands, Olga Willis; a niece, Millie Benavides; and friends, Mrs. Stella Sanchez, Mrs. Frances Lazarine and daughter Angela Vera; Mrs. Esther Medina and daughter Martha Gonzales of Houston.

The ladies enjoyed the time together and the culinary skills of Ric Tinney, who enchanted them with a specially catered menu for the event.
