Readers will be glad to know that Al Past’s “Distant Cousin” is back for another installment in the popular series.

“Distant Cousin: Recirculation” is the fifth book in which we follow the story of Ana Darcy Méndez, a human who came to Earth from another planet in “Distant Cousin,” the series opener, published in 2005.

In this chapter of the story, Ana, who has become famous, is now the mother of teenage twins.

“They have some problems,” said Past. “But their mother has disappeared on the other side of the world.

“It becomes a question of who will rescue the other.”

Past said there is room for more to happen in the series.

“The story won’t leave me alone,” he joked.

All of the “Distant Cousin” books are available for purchase at the Beeville Publishing Co. They are also available in electronic format for all different types of e-readers.

All five books also can be found at the Joe Barnhart Bee County Library.

Past will hold a book signing Saturday, April 9, at the library from 1 until 3 p.m.

Past is retired English professor, husband, grandfather and musician who lives on a ranch in Bee County.
