Eliasar “Kino” Longoria, 65, of Beeville, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011.

Mr. Longoria was born Aug. 5, 1945, in Goliad to Eloisa (Rodriguez) and Rev. Santiago Longoria Sr. He married Elvia Andaverde in Beeville on Jan. 23, 1965, and was a retired truck driver and a member of Monte Del Olivar Christian Church. He served as treasurer and secretary of the men’s ministry at the church and was treasurer of the church building fund, head usher and maintenance supervisor for United Pentecostal Local Churches International Inc.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eloisa Longoria; his maternal grandparents, Leonardo and Anita Rodriguez; paternal grandparents, Francisco and Tomasa Longoria; and a brother, Moses Longoria.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Elvia Longoria of Beeville; his father, Rev. Santiago Longoria Sr.; a son, Michael (Holly Salinas) Longoria of Beeville; three daughters, Melissa (Raul) Puga and Michelle Longoria, both of Beeville, and Melinda (Joel) Ruiz of Victoria; five grandchildren, Adrian and Aaron Puga and Abraham, Jadah and Noah Ruiz; six brothers, Dr. Jimmy (Naomi) Longoria of San Marcos, Joe (Elizabeth) Longoria of Abilene, Ray (Cynthia) Longoria of Beeville; Juan (Esmeralda) Longoria of Weslaco, Ernesto Longoria of College Station and Ricky (Vivian) Longoria of Houston; three sisters, Mary Lou (Gabriel) Galarza of Ingleside, Frances (Domingo) Leal and Rosemary (Robert) Velasquez, both of Beeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Monte Del Olivar Christian Church. A prayer service was held there at 7 o’clock that evening.

The funeral service was conducted at the church Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jesse DelaGarza and Dr. Santiago Longoria Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were David Longoria, Joe Longoria, Ray Longoria, Juan Longoria, Ernesto Longoria and Ricky Longoria.

Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren, Adrian Puga, Aaron Puga, Abraham Ruiz, Jadah Ruiz and Noah Ruiz.
