Dwayne O. Lewis, 82, of Beeville, died Monday, May 23, 2011.

Mr. Lewis was born Jan. 5, 1929, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Worth Allen and May Marion Lewis. He had 35 years of U.S. military service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings; and a great-granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Carol Lewis; a sister, June (Bill) Luckenbill of Fort Dodge, Iowa; seven children, Christine (Edwin) Moses of Kenedy, Michael D. (Joyce) Lewis and Andrew P. Lewis, both of Salem, Va., David S. (Donna) Lewis and Sherrie L. (Duane) Caruso, both of Beeville, Lisa A. (Glenn) Schott and Suzette R. (Corky) Vickery, both of Port Lavaca; 16 grandchildren, Peggy Sue Moses, Bubba Moses, Mike Lewis, London Lewis, Jaclyn Lacy, Jessica Lacy, Jeremy Lacy, Jonathan Caruso, Danielle Caruso, Jacob Caruso, David Schott, Joshua Schott, Nathaniel Schott, Keri Schott, Chasity Vickery and Ajax Vickery; and 28 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Friday, May 27, at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Phil Russell officiating. No burial services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be may to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Victoria Mortuary Service in Victoria.
