BAM to host one-day workshop for kids

The Beeville Art Museum will hold a one-day workshop for children on Monday, June 27, for ages 7-9 and 10-14.

The workshop for ages 7-9 will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. in three lessons titled “Three Unique Self Portraits – Me, Myself and I.”

Lesson 1 will be “Me — Stylin’ and Profilin’” (profile view).

Lesson 2 will be “Myself” (frontal view w/dissected sections filled with color using different mediums/techniques).

Lesson 3 will be “I” (elongated frontal view).

The workshop for ages 10-14 will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and will include a plaster strip sculpture. Students will construct sculptures using water sprayed plaster strip-covered recyclables as well as using clothes hangers for the outline.

The Beeville Art Museum, 401 E. Fannin St., is open to the public 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. To contact the museum, call 358-8615 or visit the website at
