Mr. Martinez was born July 25, 1928, to Francisco Rene and Refugia (Guerra) Martinez. He was retired from Gulf King and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margarita (Carrizales) Martinez; a granddaughter, Leslie M. Arredondo; two sisters, Francisca “Odelia” Aleman and Angelita Arredondo; a brother, Reyitos Martinez; and a son-in-law, Reynaldo Vera Sr.
Survivors include a son, Elizar (Isabel) Martinez Jr.; eight daughters, Brenda (Abel) Garcia, Terri (Mitchell) Arredondo, Sylvia (Noe Villegas) Martinez, all of Beeville, Margarita Vera, Dalia Resendez, Angelita (Alfredo) Gatica, all of Aransas Pass, Frances (Louis) Suniga of Ingleside and Jo Ann (Saul) Chavez of Ore City; 26 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited Friday, June 17, at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
Pallbearers were Jerry Martinez, Rafael Vera, Marcos J. Moreno, Noe Villegas, Chris Villegas, Anthony Banda and Abell J. Garcia.
Honorary pallbearers were Eli Eric Martinez and Nicholas P. Villegas.
