Organist John L. Blackburn will present a concert of patriotic music at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church Sunday, July 3, at 3:30 p.m.

The public is invited to the concert and to a reception afterward, at which a freewill offering will be taken for the projects of the Women of the Church.

The program includes “America, the Beautiful,” John Philips Sousa’s “The Liberty Bell,” three shape-note hymn-tunes, and selections by American composers.

Blackburn is organist and choirmaster at St. Philip’s and adjunct professor of music at Coastal Bend College. He is a graduate of Baylor University, with a bachelor’s degree in church music with organ emphasis and a master of music degree in church music.

He is a member of the American Guild of Organists, the Organ Historical Society, Pi Kappa Lamba, the Hymn Society of the United States and Canada, and the Royal School of Church Musicians.
