Sydnie Maguire was crowned the winner of Saturday’s Bee ’N Idol contest in downtown Beeville.

Maguire, 14, is the daughter of Scott and Susan Maguire.

Robert Cisneros, event coordinator, said that she will also be performing at the Hooks game in Corpus Christi on Sunday singing the national anthem.

“She is really good,” Cisneros said.

Second place went to Melanie Sandoval and Alexandria Aleman won third.

Cisneros said he plans to continue the contest next year thanks to the support he received this time.

“I only had a month to put it together this year,” he said. “That is when I got the OK from the city to do it.”

Next year he plans to start earlier and grow the festival.

“Hopefully we will get more kids involved,” he said.

Overall, Cisneros was thrilled with the attendance of the contest and the rest of the performances at this year’s Fusion Fest Saturday evening.

Cisneros wasn’t sure just how many people attended the performance.

“The parking lot was full and they were parking on the side,” he said. “It was a lot more than I expected.”
