Jerry Bond, 67, formerly of Beeville, died Wednesday night, July 6, 2011, in a Houston hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Bond was born Sept. 8, 1943, in Wharton to Jack Albert Bond and Mamie Ida Chambless Bond. He was a longtime resident of Wharton, Burnet and Beeville. He graduated from A.C. Jones High School and worked as a make ready manager for an auto dealership in Burnett until his retirement. He was the former owner of Bond’s Exxon in Wharton and served in the Wharton County Sheriff’s Reserve. He married Ann Marie Heinrich on March 6, 1971, in Wharton, and was Methodist by faith.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Bond of Wharton; a son, Michael (Nancy) Bond of Marble Falls; two brothers, Jack C. Bond and John O. (Michele) Bond, both of Beeville; and two grandchildren, Morgan Bond and Joseph Bond.

Visitation was held after 6 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at Wharton Funeral Home. A rosary service was held there that evening at 7 o’clock.

A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Father Dominic Antwi-Boasiako officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.

Pallbearers were Vernon Hogan, Christopher Hogan, Michael Hogan, Paul Hogan, Daniel Heinrich Jr. and Roger Alexander.

In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials may be made to: Holy Family Catholic Church, 2011 Briar Ln., Wharton, Texas 77488.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home, Wharton.
