Ernest James “Jim” Searcy, 67, died July 6, 2011, at his home, following a long battle with heart disease.

Mr. Searcy was born July 8, 1943, and graduated from A.C. Jones High School. He served in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged after serving six years. He continued his career selling buses in Jacksonville, Fla. and ended his career as a veteran of the school bus industry for more than 40 years as a principle with Rivers Bus and RV Sales. He spent most of his time away from the office in the outdoors and loved to make hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Raiford, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald H. and Margaret B. Searcy of Beeville; and two brothers, Charles Bruce Searcy and Gordon Lawrence Searcy.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Debbie (Saffer) Searcy; a son, Brad (Kirstie); a daughter, Katelyn; grandchildren, Kaleb and Owen; brothers, George (Susie), Tom (Joan), Don (Susan); sisters, Geraldine Sturm (Fritz), Francis Kixmuelter; twin sister, Jane Parkinson (Charlie); and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday in Jacksonville, Fla.
