Floyd “Cotton” Walters, 78, of Sandia, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at his home.

Mr. Walters was born June 3, 1933, in Coy City, to Truman Wayne and Cynthia Mary Walters. He was a retired supervisor with Getty and Texaco Oil Companies and was well known for his athletic abilities with the Pettus Eagles. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tex and Truman “Red” Walters; and a sister, Peggy Walters Hudman.

Survivors include his wife, Myra Williamson Walters of Sandia; a daughter, Carol Lynn Broerman of Sandia; two sons, Robert Lee Walters of Midland and Floyd Darrell Walters of Sandia; a sister, Ann West of Salem, Ark.; two brothers, Norman Walters of Corpus Christi and Homer Walters of Pettus; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. The funeral service was conducted there Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock with Reverend Mike Arrington officiating. Interment followed at the Mineral Cemetery.

Pallbearers included Ty Walters, Devin Walters, Jason Walters, Brian Walters, Colby Lee, Chris Lee, Emmet Lee and Paul Broerman.

Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Little, Jimmy Little, Pat Smith and John Lee.

Memorial donations may be made to the South Texas Children’s Home in Mineral.
