Juan Pedro Rodriguez, 58, passed away July 23, 2011, in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was a jailer for the Bee County Sheriff's Department and laid the concrete to the McConnell unit for which he later became a corrections officer. He was the former Chief Engineer in Beeville receiving the fireman of the year and the Assistant Fire Chief in Ben Bolt where he played a part in the development and formation of the fire department. Juan formerly worked for Heldt Brothers Trucks, RB Mud Tank Rentals, and May Fabricating in Alice and Beeville, Texas as a truck driver. Juan was a devoted father to his daughter and sharing a special bond with her.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Faustino and Maria Rodriguez; and one brother, Faustino Rodriguez, Jr.

Juan is survived by one daughter, JoAnn "Jodi" Rodriguez of Beeville, Texas; four sisters, Margarita (Oscar) Tovar of Ben Bolt, Texas, Rosa (Juan) Martinez of Green Acres, Texas, Maria Luisa (Macy) Wender of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Consuelo (Ricardo) Contreras of Alice, Texas; sister in law, Sofia Rodriguez of Green Acres, Texas; "Mom" JoAnn Hughes of Beeville, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family at the fire department in Ben Bolt and Beeville, Texas.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 25, 2011, from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Rosas Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, Texas. A Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Rosas Funeral Home chapel. Burial followed at Las Flores Cemetery in Ben Bolt, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ben Bolt Fire Department or the Beeville Fire Department.
