The Honorable Judge Rosemary Garza was chosen to pass into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2011. She had served as the Associate Judge of the 246th District Court in Houston.

She attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic School thru 8th grade and graduated from A.C. Jones High School. She received her B.A. degree from the University of Houston and her Jurist Prudence degree in 1982, also from the University of Houston.

Rosemary began her career working for the Harris County District Attorney’s office as an Asst. District Attorney. Ms. Garza was very involved with the Bar Assn. Some of her numerous honors include the 2005 Recipient of the Houston Bar Foundation Outstanding Contributions to Houston Volunteer Lawyers by an Individual. More recently, she served as Vice Chairperson on the City of Houston Civil Service Commission.

Apart from her advocacy for families. Rosemary was dedicated to children, who were always captivated by her calm and caring personality. She exemplified this through her Board membership from 2003-2009, at the Amigos Por Vida charter school in Houston. She was a strong advocate for the Mexican American community. Many of her holidays were spent not at parties, but by serving the poor at the Bistro Vino Restaurant.
