Mr. Prieto was born on January 4, 1942, in Beeville, Texas, to the late Joaquin Prieto and Estefana Prieto.
Survivors include three daughters, Maria (Joe) Herrera, Gloria (Danny) Guerrero and Stephanie (Larry) Atkinson; three sons, Joaquin (Yvette) Prieto, Manuel (Norma) Prieto and Americo (Laura) Prieto; five brothers, Pasqual Prieto, Esteban (Minnie) Prieto, Angel (Frances) Prieto, Juan (Martha) Prieto and Jaime Prieto; two sisters, Alejandra (Tino) Aguilar and Adela (Jaime) Jaure; also 13 grandchildren, Joey Herrera, Joshua Herrera, Joaquin Prieto Jr., Samantha Prieto, Blanca Prieto, Trey Prieto, Eva Guerrero, Edward Prieto, Joseph Prieto, Tatum Atkinson, Camryn Atkinson, Patrick Prieto and Jacob Prieto; also two great-grandchildren Michael Herrera and Jacky Prieto.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Prieto; brothers, Andres Prieto and Jose Prieto; sister, Petra Saenz; and granddaughter Delilah Prieto.
A rosary was recited on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, Sept. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Pawnee.
Pallbearers were Omar Jaure, Roland Jaure, Joey Herrera, Nuno Prieto, Angel Prieto and Esteban Prieto. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Atkinson and Danny Guerrero.
