The Chamber Parade Committee is again seeking entries for the Bee County Chamber of Commerce Parade to be held Saturday, Oct. 15, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Beeville.

This year marks the 74th annual parade, an integral element of the Bee County Western Week Celebration. The parade is the official kickoff of a fun-filled day of activities at the Expo Center, including the carnival, rodeo, cook-offs and entertainment.

The Chamber invites everyone to continue this historic Bee County tradition and celebrate Western Week with participation in the community parade.

First place trophies and second and third place ribbons will be awarded in the following categories: Chamber of Commerce & Cities, Commercial, Non-Commercial, Youth Entries (9th-graders and younger), Decorated & Antique Cars, and Mounted Groups & Horse-Drawn Vehicles. A grand prize trophy will be awarded to the best overall entry.

This year’s parade theme is “Show Us Your Community Pride.” Use your imagination to promote your business, organization or just enter and have fun. Remember: incorporating the theme and adding music to your entry always creates a festive atmosphere.

The entry fee for 2011 is $20 for Chamber members and $25 for non-members, with the exception of schools or school-sponsored organizations and organizations with proof of nonprofit status by the Internal Revenue Service.

Entry forms must be submitted to the Chamber with the entry fee before Oct. 6 for the best lineup position. Entries received after this date may still participate and will be added to the end of the lineup.

Judging begins at 9 a.m. Call 358-3267 or e-mail for more information.
