She was a devout servant to her Lord Jesus Christ and loved her faith and the Catholic Church. Thomasa was a long time educator at St. Phillip's Episcopal and Bee County Head Start, where she recently retired. She was born on June 4, 1942, in Kenedy, Texas, to the late Eugenio Perez and Santos Castillo Perez. She was united in marriage to the late Guadalupe C. Pena, with whom she shared 22 years of matrimony.
Cherishing her memory are: nine sons, Phillip (Tamir) Pena of Houston, Joe (Butchie) Pena of Yoakum, Gerald (JoAnn) Pena of Austin, John (Roxana) Pena of Pettus, Michael Pena of Pettus, Stanley Pena of Yoakum, Alfred (Cindy) Pena of Beeville, Thomas Pena of Beeville and Eric Pena of Beeville; one daughter, Evie Cherry of Yoakum; three brothers, Eugene Perez of Normanna, Andy Perez of Sheridan and Daniel Perez of Pasadena; one sister, Amelia Prieto of Yoakum; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and host of other relatives and friends.
A rosary was recited on Tuesday, November 8, at 7 p.m. at the Treviño Funeral Home. The funeral Mass and celebration of Tommie’s life were on Wednesday, November 9, at 11 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church – Father John McKenzie, Celebrant. Thomasa will await the resurrection at Pettus Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Alex Perez, Andy Perez Jr., A.J. Bentacud, Gabriel Chapa III, Danny Perez Jr. and Alfred E. Perez III.
