He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Paula Mendoza Trejo; daughter, Josephine Trejo; his parents that raised him, Leandro and Guadalupe Resio; two sisters, Guadalupe Ganceres and Jesusa Garza; and one brother, Juan Resio.
Cherishing the memories of Santiago are his beloved wife of fifty–five years, Adela Z. Trejo of Beeville; two sons, Rolando (Dee Dee) Trejo of Beeville and Juan (Sara) Trejo of Defiance, Ohio; three daughters, Adelaida (Roland) Fuentes of San Antonio, Diana (Adam) Trevino and Josie Trejo of Beeville; father, Emilio Trejo of Lansing, Michigan; six brothers, Joaquin Resio, Pedro Resio, Raul Resio of Mathis, Manuel Resio of Tynan, Roberto Resio of Holt, Michigan, and Roberto Trejo of Pharr; three sisters, Maria Casarez, Antonio Munoz of Mathis and Rosie Trevino of Lansing, Michigan; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday, November 22, 2011, starting at 12 p.m. at the Trevino Funeral Home, with the rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was held Wednesday November 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers were his grandsons: John Roland Trejo, Gabriel Jay Moreno, Michael Moreno, Jordan Trejo, Joe Albert Ramirez, and his brother Roberto Resio. Honorary pallbearers were Joaquin Resio, Manuel Resio, Pete Resio, Raul Resio, Roberto Trejo and Ray Caldwell.
