Mr. Laurel was born July 13, 1989, in Glendale, Ariz., to Laura Laurel and Kasai Rushing. He was a Catholic and a wrestling fan.
He was preceded in death by two uncles, Vernon Laurel and Eric Laurel; and an aunt, Elisa Ybarra.
Survivors include his grandmother, Teresa Laurel of Beeville; his mother, Laura Laurel (Rick Reyes) of Corpus Christi; a sister, Monica Laurel of Beeville; a brother, Joe Angel Lara of Corpus Christi; and an uncle, Eddie Laurel of Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held held from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Musical selections were provided by vocalist Fernando Cisneros. Burial followed in San Pedro Cemetery in the Clareville community.
Pallbearers were Eddie Laurel, Rick Reyes, Jaime Cardenas, Andrew “Papi-c” Cortinas, Rey Ybarra, Carlos “C.J.” Vlaun, Raul Garza and Rolando “Ravishing Rolando Rios” Villarreal.
Honorary pallbearer was Joe Angel Lara.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
