Mr. Barrera was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Berclair to the late Trinidad Barrera Sr. and Leonor De La Garza Barrera. He was a retired AIG insurance salesman and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Yolanda (Bill) Wilson of Cypress and Cynthia Robinson of Humble; two sons, Alfonso Barrera of Sugar Land and Trino Barrera III of Victoria; two brothers, Ross Barrera of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ernest Barrera of Miami, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maria G. Barrera; a son, Sean Barrera; three sisters, Elvira Garza, Dora Granado and Angelica Fraze; a brother, Frank Barrera; and a grandson, Sean Barrera.
Visitation is Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca.
The funeral service is there on Friday at 2 p.m. with Deacon Al Calzada officiating. Interment will follow in a Port Lavaca cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Bill Wilson, Tyler Barrera, Timothy Robinson, Alfonso Barrera, Trino Barrera III and Trino Barrera IV.
Honorary pallbearer is Garrett Barrera, U.S. Marine.
