Gaye Lynne McCameron, 69, of Harlingen, formerly of Beeville, died on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at her residence.

She was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on March 9, 1939, to Bill and Rae Slater Looker. She attended high school in Oklahoma and graduated from high school in Pettus, where she met and married Edward McCameron in 1956. She was part owner of Mac’s Insulation in Harlingen and Rocky River Camp in Camp Wood, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harlingen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two children, Billy and Janie.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edward McCameron, Sr.; children, Ed (Sandi) McCameron Jr., and Kenny (Cheli) McCameron; two grandchildren, Dillion and Christian; two sisters, Mary and Margaret Lightfoot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was to be held from 12 to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen. Funeral services will be held there at 2 p.m. today (Saturday) with Rev. Chris Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park in La Feria.

Pallbearers will be Albino Perez, Juan Perez, Jim Galloway, Jose Garcia, Frank Lara and Miguel Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Mac’s Insulation of Harlingen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Harlingen, 501 E. Van Buren, Harlingen, TX 78550 or the Boys and Girls Club, 1209 W. Washington, Harlingen, TX 78550.
