Natalia Perez Duran, 95, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at the Edinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the last descendant of the well-known family of Porfirio and Rita (Zuniga) Perez of Tuleta.

She was born in Normanna on Dec. 1, 1914. She resided in Edinburg the last 25 years and 14 of those years she lived with her daughter, Natalie Duron.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adan Duran, in 1982.

Survivors include a son, Adam (San Juanita) Duran of Beeville; a daughter Natalie (Tino) Duron of Edinburg; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Duran, Rene Duran, Leticia Banda, John Ramirez, Michele Shampoe, Adriana Strait and Deidra Duron; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 1 to 9 p.m. on Monday at Trevino Funeral Home. A rosary was recited at 7 o’clock that evening.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church. Interment followed in the Tuleta Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Duran, Rene Duran, John Ramirez, Eric Archilla and Justin Duran.
