The Skidmore-Tynan Lions Club is sponsoring its second annual countywide pumpkin-carving contest, open to all schools.

A first place certificate will be given for winners in each age group, along with a $25 gift certificate from Wal-Mart. Age groups are: 4-6, 7-10 and 11-15 years old. Judging will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Chisholm Trail Café.

Turkey shoot

The Lions’ annual turkey shoot will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, beginning at noon. The winner of the round will receive a 10- to 12-pound turkey. Proceeds will go toward the Christmas baskets. There will be a 50/50 raffle during the shoot, for $2 per shot at 10 shots per round. Follow the signs.

Christmas baskets

Christmas baskets will be put together for the less fortunate in the Skidmore-Tynan ISD area. Canned goods, non-perishable items and monetary donations are needed. Those who would like to help may call the Chisholm Trail Café at 361-287-3100 or the Skidmore-Tynan Lions Club at 361-318-0763. Baskets will be delivered the weekend of Dec. 22. Donations can be dropped off at the Chisholm Trail Café in Skidmore.
