A.C. Jones High welding students walked away with first, second and third place wins earlier this month.

Mike Mylnar, welding instructor at the high school, said eight students went to the Skills USA District competition at Victoria College: Ryan Moriñ, Thomas Camacho, Eliazar Segovici, Clayton Tindol, Justin Cubia, Jimmy Joe Aguijo and Thomas Smith. Dustin McCabe went as an alternate but did not compete.

Winning were: Moriñ with first place, Camacho with second place and Tindol with third. The students were competing against 21 other students.

The three students who placed will advance to American Bank Center in Corpus Christi on April 2, 3 and 4.

If the students win there, they will head to the national competition in Kansas this July.
