Dr. James Lee, director of the Coastal Bend College Community Performing Arts Project, has announced that there are scholarships available for college students interested in majoring in music or just interested in performing in the college/community band or choir.

The CBC Music Department offers the complete and transferable music curriculum for the first two years for the music major. Upon completion of the 35-semester-hour, two-year music curriculum, the student may transfer to a four-year university as a junior in music. At the same time, the student would complete 31 hours of the general education curriculum for a total of 66 semester hours and be eligible to receive the associate in science degree.

Students with majors other than music who enjoy performing in a band or choir are also eligible to apply for a music performing scholarship. The college and community choir meet on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30, and the college and community band meet on Thursday evening from the same time.

The CBC Music Department also offers private lessons in voice, piano, guitar and most instruments.

Anyone interested in applying for a music performing scholarship at CBC for the 2013 spring semester or wishing to obtain more information about course offerings, may contact Dr. Lee at 361-354-2303 or email for more information.
