REFUGIO — Russell Jaso, a sixth-grader at Refugio Elementary, was nominated to represent the school for the 2013 Lone Star Leadership Academy program.

Russell is the son of Ronnie and Lupe Jaso of Refugio and the grandson of Ray and Odelia A. Jaso of Beeville.

The sixth-grade math teacher nominated Jaso for the honor.

This is the second nomination that Russell has received. He will be attending the People to People Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., in May.

Outstanding students are nominated for participation in this program based on demonstrated leadership ability and academic excellence.
