Jack Dortch Umphres, 90, passed away on February 7, 2013. She was born September 12, 1922 in Houston, Texas, to Clyde Buckner and Pearl (Welborn) Dortch. She married Charles Oscar “Chily” Umphres in San Antonio, Texas on February 11, 1942. She was a member of First Baptist Church and retired as office manager for Prudential Insurance in Corpus Christi, Texas. Jack was a member of Mae Dirks Garden Club, Orangedale Hobby Club and Republican Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and one sister.

She is survived by her nieces, Dee Ann (Gene) DeLong of George West, Texas, and Vickie (Carrroll) Blaschke of Austin, Texas; and nephews, Jerry Dortch and Charles B. Dortch of Oklahoma.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Beeville, Texas. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Beeville, Texas with Rev. Greg Traylor officiating. Interment followed at Three Rivers Cemetery in Three Rivers, Texas.

Donations may be made to South Texas Children’s Home, First Baptist Church organizations, or Pettus-Tuleta Volunteer Fire Department.
