He was born on May 8, 1939, in George West to the late Trinidad and Eulogia Salazar Garcia. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include three daughters, Diana (Rudy) Ramirez of Mathis, Dalia (Jose) Luna of Petersburg and Delma (Frank) Benavidez of San Antonio; five sons, Luis Garcia of Corpus Christi, Miguel (Luz) Garcia Jr. of Fort Worth, Raul (Josie) Garcia, Juan and Lupe Garcia, all of Mathis; one brother, Domingo Garcia of Mathis; five sisters, Martha Silvas and Victoria Peralta, both of Mathis, Elida (Sabas) Salazar of Lubbock, Manuela (Cano) Saldivar of Oklahoma and Alicia (Jose) Ganceres of Lubbock; and 17 grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the VFW Hall in Mathis, followed by a prayer service at 7 o’clock that evening.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Calvary Mennonite Church in Mathis. Burial will follow at Descanso Eterno No. 2 in Mathis.
Pallbearers will be Miguel Garcia Jr., Raul Garcia, Lupe Garcia, Ivan Hinojosa, Eric Garcia and John Paul Garcia.
Honorary pallbearer will be Lee Roy Luna.
