Beeville – On Sunday, June 9, Faith Lutheran Church will kick off its 4th annual Summer Gospel Concert Series. This will be the fourth consecutive summer that Faith Lutheran has brought some of the areas finest gospel groups and performers to the community through this free summer concert series.

The summer concerts will be held on the second Sunday of the month from June through September. All concerts are held on the outside stage on the east side of the church.

Concert coordinator Jim Stevenson said, “This is truly a multi-denominational event as those in attendance come from churches throughout Bee County, and the concert series has featured local performers from many area churches including Baptists, Presbyterian, Catholic, Methodist and non-denominational. We have built a brand new stage, and we are all ready go.”

Dr. Gary Williams will kick off the 2013 Summer Concert Series on Sunday, June 9, at 7:30 in the evening. This is the third time in four years that Williams has performed at one of the summer concerts, and the second time he has opened the concert series. Williams’ talents extend far beyond his veterinarian practice, as he is also a talented singer and guitar player. If you have not seen him perform, you are in for a real treat at this concert. His laid-back style is always a huge hit with the audience as he performs songs of some of today’s most popular Christian artists mixed with some of his own personal favorites.

“He’s so relaxed, and his style is so mellow it’s like watching John Denver in concert,” Stevenson added.

The Faith Lutheran Church’s own praise band, Crossways, will perform the second concert in the series on Sunday, July 14, at 7:30 in the evening. Crossways provides the worship music at Faith Lutheran on the second Sunday of each month. This will be a special bittersweet concert for Crossways as this will be the farewell concert for their lead singer Stacy Stevenson. Stacy has been with Crossways for four years. For those who may not know Stacy by name, she has appeared in several Coastal Bend College musicals, including the role of Maria in the “Sound of Music.” Stacy will be moving to San Antonio in the fall, so make sure to see her farewell performance at this concert.

Tucker Rackley will perform on Aug. 11 at 7:30 in the evening. “Tucker was a big hit in 2012 and will be retuning to the Faith Lutheran stage again this summer,” Stevenson said. The former superintendent of Pettus ISD is a gifted musician and talented vocalist. Rackley is a member of the First United Methodist Praise Band and also helps lead the music at many of the monthly Emmaus Community gatherings. In 2012, special guest Mark Garcia joined him, and they were a huge hit with everyone. Some special guests will once again join Rackley when he returns to Faith Lutheran’s outdoor stage in August.

Gospel Truth will close out the summer gospel concert series on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. Gospel Truth has concluded the concert series every year since the summer concerts began. Gospel Truth has a huge following in the area and many fans. They have outstanding harmonies and excellent musicians, and their country gospel flavor is always a crowd pleaser.

“This group performs all over the area and are true professionals. This toe-tapping concert is always great way to close out our Faith Lutheran Summer Gospel series,” Stevenson said. “And we are so proud to have them back for the fourth straight year.”
