BEEVILLE – Police officers said a man with three outstanding city warrants wound up facing drug possession charges after being stopped by officers early Saturday morning.

Detective Sgt. Art Gamez and Detective Chris Vasquez were out at 1:30 a.m. Saturday when Gamez spotted 33-year-old Gabriel Pisena in a passing vehicle.

“I knew he had warrants,” Gamez said. So he called for patrol officers in a marked unit to make a traffic stop.

Patrolmen John Berry and Joshua Sorenson made the stop minutes later in the 1500 block of North St. Mary’s Street.

Gamez and Vasquez told Pisena that he was being taken into custody on the three outstanding warrants, and as they began searching the suspect and his vehicle, they found varying amounts of methamphetamine, methadone and hydrocodone.

Pisena was taken to jail on the warrants and drug charges and his bonds were set at a total of $10,000.
