ACE, which stands for Afterschool Centers on Education, is a free program offered on all BISD campuses and St. Mary’s Academy Charter School where enrolled students may participate in after-school activities at their campus until 6 p.m. ACE is a safe alternative for students who otherwise may stay home alone or have unsupervised time until parents return home from work in the evenings. Students are provided with a snack and then participate in tutorials/homework time and academic enrichment activities such as cooking, robotics, physical fitness, arts and crafts and so much more.
Super Saturdays are a monthly event for ACE students to spend time with their families and participate in various activities designed to promote family involvement and learning. All ACE students from BISD and SMACS are invited, and also those parents and students who are interested in signing up for ACE for the 2013-2014 school year. ACE registration forms will be available for those who wish to join. A parent or guardian must be present with his or her student(s) during Super Saturday. Dropping off children and picking them up when the event is over is not allowed.
August’s Super Saturday will be carnival-themed and will be held outdoors, so come dressed for a warm day playing games and having fun.For more information, contact the ACE program at 362-6010.
