Mrs. Blankenship was born on Sept. 4, 1929, in Texon, Regan County, to John Varney and Carabel (Graves) Pledge. She was the youngest of five children and married Cicero Jourdan “Smokey” Blankenship on Dec. 1, 1945, in Eldorado, Schleicher County. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was retired from NAS Chase Field civil service as a bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings and a grandchild.
Survivors include her husband, Cicero Jourdan “Smokey” Blankenship; children, Darlene Walser, Ed Blankenship, Alan Blankenship and Carol Bridger; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel.
The funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
