Mrs. Hodge was born May 16, 1937, in San Antonio to Leonard Canada and Norene Ventres. She married Charles V. Hodge Sr. and was a faithful member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a deaconess, benevolent committee, floral committee and in other capacities as needed. She was owner of Claudia’s Beauty Salon for 29 years and served many in Beeville and surrounding areas. She was a member of the Beeville Juneteenth Committee and the Lott-Canada Alumni Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Charles V. “Chox” Hodge Jr.
Survivors include a son, Lionel Hodge; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. A celebration of life was held Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 3 p.m. at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric R. Tarver officiating. Interment followed at Saint Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mitchell Smith, Elvie Tippens, Jesse Robinson, Leonard Robinson, Ray Langley and Marty Virata.
Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Crenshaw, Tyrone Hubbard, Carl Hinderman, Michael Hubbard, Julius Hubbard and Gregory Searcy.
