Mr. Martinez was born Oct. 31, 1925, in Mathis to Gregorio and Juanita Carbajal Martinez. He was a retired water well serviceman and served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include one son, Joe L. (Jessica) Martinez of Beeville; two daughters, Hope Martinez and Norma (Kenneth) Ham, both of Calallen; two sisters, Celia (Epifanio) Munoz and Herlinda (Abel) Aguilar, both of Port Lavaca; a daughter-in-law, Janie Martinez of Calallen; 10 grandchildren, Allison Schaum, Michelle Martinez, Joey Martinez, Joseph Martinez, Lisa Liserio, Jodi Martinez, Michelle Campos, Mark Davis, Kelly Garnet and Louis Martinez; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation was held from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment with military honors followed at 2 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
Pallbearers were Joey Martinez, Joseph Martinez, Jo Anthony Zamora, Adam Zamora, Jacob Schaum, Jack Schaum, Jace Martinez, Mark Davis and Louis Martinez.
